VARSITY TEAM PREPARES FOR NATIONALS 2009!
The Varsity Dance Team is again preparing for The National Dance Team Championships being held by Universal Dance Association in Walt Disney World on January 31st and February 1st, 2009. This year the team will be back in the Large Varsity Pom and Jazz divisions and hope to be back in the finals after missing them last year in the Small Varsity Division. ( Seton placed 5th in the Large Varsity Pom division in both 2005 and 2006 and finished 8th in 2007). Practices have been going extremely well and all involved are very excited.
This year’s team has 3 Seniors, 5 Juniors and 7 Sophomores, of which, five are new members to the team, and will be making the Nationals trip for the first time. Casey R. has never even been to Disney World and says, “I just can’t wait to be there for the first time. I hope I don’t have too much time to spend in the parks though. I would much rather be performing. I have had a ‘Countdown to Nationals’ on my laptop for weeks now!” While hopes are high for their “Water” themed Pom routine the team is also hoping to do well in the Jazz category. Seton has competed in the Jazz Division in the past but has never advanced to finals in that category. Coach Theresa says, “This year in Jazz we are just trying to give a performance that we can be proud of at Nationals. The team has worked really hard on both of their routines and while we focus primarily on Pom we want to show that we can go out there and have a great Jazz routine as well. Most importantly, we want to entertain our parents and friends who make the trip with us. We are so grateful for their support”
The Varsity team will be performing their Pom & Jazz routines several times over the next few weeks leading up to Nationals. Please visit the ‘EVENTS’ page to get specific information on the UDA Winterfest Championships, Mt. Notre Dame Dance Classic, Seton HS Invitational & Seton Basketball games vs. Mt. Notre Dame, St. Ursula & McAuley at Seton High School (they will be performing at half-time during the Varsity games). They hope to see you there!
